ALSC's Quicklists Consulting Committee Summer Reading 2020 List
The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association, produces an annual list of top picks for summer. The list is organized by the following age/grade ranges: birth to preschool, kindergarten to grade two, grades three to five, and grades six to eight.
The Horn Book’s 2020 Summer Reading List
Our friends at the Horn Book suggest 50 stellar titles, organized by the following general age/grade ranges: picture books, easy readers and primary grades, intermediate, middle school, and high school. (Full disclosure: The Horn Book and SLJ are owned by the same parent company, Mediasource, Inc.)
ILA/CBC Children’s Choices Reading List 2020
Voted on by 12,500 school children from all over the United States, this list is published by the International Literacy Association and the Children’s Book Council. It is organized by age group and format: beginning readers (kindergarten to grade two), young readers (grades three to four), and advanced readers (grades five to six).
ILA Teachers’ Choices Reading List 2020
Teacher-selected books for ages five through 14.
Created by the Brooklyn Public Library and the New York Public Library, these lists are organized by age/grade level, with suggestions for babies through high schoolers. Teaching Books offers additional resources for all of the NYC reading selections.
Texas Library Association (TLA) Lists
One of the largest and most active state library associations in the country, TLA offers several targeted lists for various ages and interests:
Little Maverick (graphic novels for kindergarten to fifth grade)
Lone Star (fiction for grades six to eight)
TAYSHAS (fiction and nonfiction for high schoolers)
Tejas (English-Spanish bilingual books for grades five to 12)
Topaz (nonfiction for all ages, preschool to grade 12 and beyond)
