Punk Ass Book Jockeys | Feedback

Readers are "questioning everything," including librarians in popular culture.

Nostalgia held the day, or at least the comments, on the “Heavy Medal” blog. Consider the post on Newbery “powerhouses,” those special authors who have been awarded a Newbery Medal and/or Honor for more than one book.

I’ve been reading forever. I never remember what I’ve read. As a school librarian, I am always asked “what is your favorite book?” Without fail it is From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. ❤️

I loved this book as a kid. Running away to a museum seemed so much cooler than running away to “My Side of the Mountain”
M.L. Nichols

Loved this book as a kid. Taught me how to hide in a bathroom effectively - which comes in handy when you're a kid playing Manhunt. Read it again as an adult and have tried to read it when my students. Much like other books I remember being sooo good, it didn't quite hold up.

More Reasons to Love

Our repost of “Reasons to Love Libraries: 23 Notable Authors and Public Figures Share Their Joy” brought even more love.

As a librarian I felt happiest when I’d see neighbors see each other in our lobby and spend a few minutes catching up with each other.
Joan Raphael

Having lived on both sides of the library desk, I find Mychal’s stance especially meaningful.

There’s something about Tammy

Oh those “Pop Librarians.” One in particular brought the feedback: Tammy from Parks and Recreation.

Love that show! I think it’s hilarious that they made the librarians evil.
Katherine Hales

A colleague of mine has a sound theory that Tammy and the Pawnee library staff are actually not librarians, because Pawnee doesnt respect libraries - so theyre untrained undegreed bureaucrats and that is why they are so unethical 😂😂😂
Liz Gotauco

The Party Girl erasure in this piece has me questioning everything.
