A smiling pair of sheep on a clover field are accompanied by the text, “You make me Dublin over in laughter.” A ladybug duo is “the life of the Paddy.” These loving, rhyming puns are each set on a bold colored background with a singular embellishment such as hearts, a leprechaun’s hat, or gold coins, that ties into the whimsical illustrations of the pairs on the corresponding pages. Attention-grabbing color helps make this board book perfect to share with babies and toddlers ahead of spring.
VERDICT Full of puns and rhymes, this short, colorful book is a great addition to St. Patrick’s Day collections.
