Characters' uncovered histories, their emotional defeats, and the discovery of new information create a genuine narrative exploring mental health issues, vulnerability, and how love can help bridge the two.

With a strong, if somewhat morose, narrative voice and absorbing stream-of-consciousness storytelling, Cassandra explores how her mental distress affects her relationships with an unnamed love interest; her angry father; and a new, troubled friend. Her story is an angsty, compelling coming-of-age mystery.
