Gr 9 Up–In this sequel to
What My Mother Doesn’t Know, listeners witness the relationship between Robin and Sophie from his point of view. His quick shifting from lust-filled thoughts to flashes of insight are spot-on and make this a most interesting tale. The push-pull when he starts connecting with college students in his Harvard art class, Sophie’s seeming ambivalence about their relationship, and the social price both she and Robin pay for their relationship all add to the overall enjoyment of this story. Listeners who read or listen to the first book will get much more from this one.
VERDICT A fun, humorous and sometimes painful take on love and lust in the early teen years. Suggested for libraries where teens enjoy smart and self-analytic humor.
