PreS-K–A sweet and simple take on the traditional concept book. It begins as a small white pup wakes up and greets the day. As he explores the world around him, his fur takes on the hues around him, until he is a vibrant rainbow of colors. Then, a thunderstorm rolls in, turning everything dark and gray. Scared and sad, the pup and his yellow bird friend shiver through the storm. In the end, all is well, as the optimistic pup rolls in a puddle of color and again wakes up the world again. Beautiful illustrations that perfectly coordinate with the text are the highlight of this story. The pup’s curiosity and obvious joyfulness will delight any young audience.
VERDICT Recommended as a general purchase for a primary library, especially where fresh, new stories about understanding colors are needed.
