PreS-K—A wolf comes home tired after a day of playing in the forest and announces that he will never walk again. Beginning in January, he starts 12 months of using various modes of transportation, none of which works very well. He gets hurt skiing and roller-skating, and sometimes he's thwarted by mechanical difficulties. In June he gets caught after stealing magic boots from two ogres. When he's taken off a train, the kidnappers are a tomahawk-wielding "gang of bandits." In December, Santa Claus asks him if he needs a ride. At that point the wolf realizes that his "two feet on the ground" are the best way for him to get around. The cartoonish-looking wolf has an extremely elongated nose, and the colors in the artwork are bright, but flat. This one is easy to skip.—Ieva Bates, Ann Arbor District Library, MI
