But she soon sees that the yarn that came off can help others. First her cat uses some yarn to play with, then birds add a piece to their nest outside her house. As she makes her way to school, she helps people along the way as her sweater continues to unravel. What started as a disaster turns into a day filled with acts of kindness all due to the sweater. Bright, colorful illustrations highlight the positive message, and characters are diverse; Maya has light brown skin and thick curly hair. Minimal text on each page makes this a quick and easy read.
VERDICT A positive and uplifting book with a generous circular ending that young readers will love.
