This volume takes a simple yet informative approach to explaining how human bodies develop and operate. Gender and gender identity are also tackled through the inclusion of transgender and nonbinary characters. Speech bubbles and captions provide many opportunities for jokes, facts, questions, and ideas to enhance the experience, whether the work is read independently or shared with an adult. This title would make a great occasion for family reading, as many passages naturally lead to further conversation.
