Baby-Toddler–While Mrs. Rabbit is at work, her children retrieve the Christmas decorations to adorn their burrow and tree. One small snag: The star tree topper is missing! Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter search the burrow from top to bottom, but the star is not found. Mopsy proposes the siblings make their own star tree topper. Sadly the new topper is knocked onto the floor and—”CRACK!”—is in pieces. Flopsy gets out her drawing supplies and designs another star. Thanks to more glue, twine, and ribbon, the new star is bigger and better. The bunnies save the honor of placing the tree topper for Mrs. Rabbit, who is very pleased with the young bunnies’ decorating. Artwork complements the text with beautiful, simple, and vibrant watercolor. While Taylor’s work is not as detailed as Beatrix Potter’s original art, it does suit the target audience. Pair this book with a Popsicle stick star decoration craft to extend the learning and fun. This board book is on the verbose side of the format, making it a better fit for the toddler age group.
VERDICT An adorable addition to Christmas board book collections.
