Suitor Armor

Gr 7 Up–Lucia has been living as a lady-in-waiting for years, helping to prepare Lady Kirsi for her wedding. Each day, Lucia ties down her wings and conceals her pointed ears in her hair, so that nobody in the castle will guess that she’s not really human. She tries not to think about the ongoing war between the humans and the fairies, and to focus instead on ways that she can help Lady Kirsi. When Norrix the court mage enchants a suit of armor to win battles and keep the king happy, it seems like an entertaining idea. But when that suit of armor wins a battle and then presents a rose to Lucia, suddenly things become more serious. Lucia feels a connection to this suit of armor, names him Modeus, and they begin to form a bond, even though it feels like it should be impossible. This graphic novel is already popular as a Webtoon, so it has a fan base of readers who will be interested to see the printed version and check out the bonus content that’s included in this volume. The story is fast-paced and funny, and it includes plenty of action as well as emotional connections between major and supporting characters. The artwork is lively and colorful and filled with snarky humor.
