This clever picture book uses the metaphor of “stars in your crown” to represent patience as a coping method for tricky situations. Little Tony practices using his stars when his family moves across the world to Canada—a place that is vastly different in culture and climate. Told in longer blocks of text with advanced vocabulary, such as “flabbergasted,” this book would make an excellent read-aloud rather than an independent read. With vibrant illustrations that capture the changes in climate, it offers children insight on geography, weather, and emotional regulation.
VERDICT A cleverly written and illustrated book that provides gentle instruction about patience during trying times, such as moving to a new country.
