Gr 6 Up—This unique program offers a glimpse into the profound effects that living with an autistic sibling presents. The sincere and emotional tone is set with the opening and closing photograph flashes of autism siblings and autistic family members as a narrator reads "Extra Vast and Lopsided" a poem by Chris Patton who is autistic. Siblings of autism give heartfelt and sensitive perspectives on key issues facing the daily life of their families. Comments revolved around such issues as: complicated family dynamics, blowouts, obsessions, caretaking, blending, acceptance, loyalty, evolving, growing, changing, and the realistic futures of their autistic family members. This program highlights first-hand testimonials that show the special demands and stresses and the family dynamic of living with an autistic sibling. It would be useful for parents, autism siblings, and those who work with children affected by autism as well as anyone interested in a glimpse into the real impact of autism on the family.—
