PreS-Gr 1–Little Miss Sunshine organizes a Secret Santa gift exchange for the Mr. Men and Little Miss gang. Mr. Nosey is conflicted: Christmas is already hard for someone with a strong need to know. Will he be able to handle not knowing the identity of a gift giver? When Mr. Nosey doesn’t receive a gift at all, a friend calls in a favor to make him feel better. Just as in Hargreaves’s other books in the series, illustrations use bold colors with simple outlines and shapes to depict the characters and backgrounds. This book contains not even a whiff of the sentimentality or didacticism that inhabits many Christmas stories, but it’s just as much quirky fun as the other titles in the series.
VERDICT Loads of giggles, an appearance by Santa Claus, and a perfect surprise ending make this silly little book a great choice for any collection.
