K-Gr 2—Three-dimensional computer-animated characters use music and simple dialogue to introduce beginning readers to first-grade Dolch words and many Fry words as well. The DVD contains over 70 sight words that students need to know. Vivid colors abound. Words are both shown and spoken. The words to the songs are shown onscreen with the traditional bouncing ball, and kids will want to sing along. Viewers are encouraged to participate, and there's plenty of repetition and review. The program is nicely formatted. Words are presented, then used in a catchy song that tells a bit of a story. Most are defined pictorially in context.
