Gr 1-3–In this book based on the animated series Transformers: EarthSpark, Robby and Mo move from Philadelphia to Witwicky, PA. One night, as Robby attempts to bike back to his old home, he and Mo encounter an Emberstone. This mysterious stone creates Cyber-Sleeves that link them to Twitch and Thrash, the first Transformers bots to be born on Earth. They bring the bots home, and Twitch and Thrash become their new siblings. When it is time for school, Robby and Mo try to navigate school life while staying connected to the bots through their Cyber-Sleeves. The illustrations appear to be stills from the animated show. While much of the story’s concept is not fully explained, potentially confusing first-time readers, fans of the series are sure to enjoy this adaptation.
VERDICT A solid secondary purchase for libraries, particularly where Transformers: EarthSpark is popular.
