Pizza for Birds

His bird friends give him a stern talking-to, he confesses his misdeeds to Ryan, and it’s a redemption arc—sort of. In the end, Bob remains well-meaning but as lovably self-absorbed as ever. The book’s zany humor will have kids and their adults giggling, and Bob’s lack of personal growth is a major part of the appeal. His personality flaws provide readers a lighthearted jumping-off point for a discussion of feelings, communication, online bullying, and how to take accountability. Shea’s expressive illustrations are bold and colorful with retro charm, drawing readers in immediately.
