As the child grows, colorful illustrations depict the pair sharing special moments, as well as realistic difficult times. The poetic language describes the many ways in which their Papá will help them—learning to walk, imagine, and face their fears. Readers will respond to the warm home and the love Papá has to give in the everyday activities they (and often their two dogs) share. The Spanish text is concise and pairs perfectly with each illustration, in which colors shift according to the mood of each page.
VERDICT A charming tribute to fathers and the love they have for their children, this title is a good choice for Spanish-language picture book collections and a great selection for Father’s Day.
