PreS-Gr 1–Owl is having an ordinary day in the woods with friends when she encounters a small problem: She has no idea what “tomorrow” means. Her friends Hedgehog, Mouse, and Rabbit do their best to explain by using activities in their own days to show Owl. In the end, a party invitation solves everything. The artwork is strong, modern, and attractive, with a dark palette that adds complexity to a fairly simple story line. This is essentially a vocabulary lesson, couched in the comfort of friendship.
VERDICT For libraries needing books for emerging readers, this will do; for most it will be an additional purchase.
