Meet Mbiresaurus

K-Gr 3–This series combines the allure of dinosaurs and appeal of graphic novels for double the impact. Each title features a dinosaur that may be unknown even to dedicated fans of all things Mesozoic. Text is limited to one or two sentences per panel, while large illustrations capture the dinosaurs in action. Size comparisons help readers visualize the scale of every dinosaur: Yuxisaurus weighed as much as a polar bear, and meraxes gigas was the length of a city bus, for example. Also included are a description of the features of the species, details about its discovery, and comparisons to similar dinosaurs. A helpful chart lists the various time periods within the Mesozoic era with a few species shown for each. A map in each book marks the location where the species was discovered. Each book also has a spread showing an X-ray of the dinosaur’s skeleton, with the bones that have been found shaded in gray, to help readers see how much missing data scientists are trying to fill in. Helpful features include a glossary, pronunciation guide, and further reading.
