Toddler-PreS-Baby Bear and Grandma play together every day and go on outdoor adventures. Seeing the world from high in a tree, puddle-jumping in the rain, skipping stones in the pond, and finding shapes in the clouds, the cub's first-person voice describes all their fun times together. "If I tumble and fall, Grandma squeezes me tight. A bear hug from her can make everything right." With a close-up view of Grandma hugging Baby Bear, children will share in the security that the youngster feels. Soft colors and impressionistic illustrations lend the book a cozy quality. Rhyming quatrains work well, in bold black font on each spread. The setting sun glows on the page as the two head home, with Grandma soon tucking in Baby Bear: "Me and my grandma have the BEST time together. I wish our adventures could go on FOREVER!"
VERDICT A cozy read-aloud, this one treads familiar ground but may fit the bill where more books about grandparents are needed, or for a grandparents storytime.-Ramarie Beaver, Plano Public Library System, TX
