Gr 9 Up—It's taken a bit for Flynn to adjust to New York after her happy life in California. When her mom died, Flynn had to move in with her dad. Now Flynn has come to depend on stepbrother Amos and to love half-sister Poppy, since their wealthy parents tend to be absent. None of them are excited about their flight to meet their parents in Bora Bora, so when Poppy lets slip that the entire trip is about dropping the bombshell of an impending divorce on the kids, Flynn comes up with the genius plan to turn their California layover into a longer stay. Flynn will have a chance to see where a camp crush might lead, while Amos may be able to reconnect with his estranged, alcoholic father and Poppy will have the opportunity to visit the happiest place on earth. Nothing goes the way they plan it, but the experience creates an unshakeable bond among the three of them. The story is told from the kids' perspectives and is narrated by three different, talented narrators. Phoebe Strole reads Flynn's perspective, Michael Crouch is the voice of Amos, and Cassandra Morris voices Poppy.
VERDICT The talented narrators and high-quality production turn an interesting book about friendship, family, and love into a spectacular audiobook.
