PreS-Gr 2—On Easter morning, the farm animals begin work on a surprise for a little girl. They gather and paint the hens' eggs, decorate the barn, and leave a trail of brightly colored eggs across the yard. They indicate that they are awaiting a special friend. The child embraces the lamb, who is deemed "the best Easter gift of all." The text is a series of rhyming quatrains that narrate the action as the animals prepare for the party. The cartoon characters are made of soft colors set before a hazy barn background of warm yellow and orange tones.
