Gr 4–6—Logan always seems to notice things that other people miss, such as when the dogs in his hometown suddenly go missing, He is certain that they have been abducted by aliens and he is on a mission to get them back. Unable to do it alone, he recruits some friends and forms the Intergalactic Canine Rescue Unit. Can they get the dogs back? Were they really abducted by extraterrestrials and, if so, why? Jennings has the vocabulary of middle graders down pat (with lots of references to flatulence and other gross things). Readers will relate to Logan, who has a busy working mom and a bratty younger brother. Suited to mystery and science-fiction fans alike, this accessible adventure features a protagonist whom middle graders will find easy to relate to.
