Gr 9 Up—These titles are organized by interest, and opening chapters contain similar, watered-down information about the hows and whys of volunteering and applying for internships (how to find a position, how to get to know the industry, why you should show initiative). The books encourage students to pursue college or move to a large city by imparting general wisdom ("the bigger the city you live in, the more of a chance you will have to work for a major company"). Unfortunately, the format is a bit lackluster. The majority of the pictures are stock photos or outdated. Advice is not very substantive, e.g., readers are told to put a résumé together, but are not given any tips for doing so. One great thing is the publisher's online list of websites, noted at the end of the website listings, which is updated regularly to help readers access changing links.—Lindsay Klemas, JM Rapport School for Career Development, Bronx, NY
