Historical Fiction for Teens

A Genre Guide

COPY ISBN
Rabey covers titles published between 1975 and 2010 and includes award winners as well as selections popular with teens and those suitable for book discussions. The first chapter provides a sense of how historical fiction has evolved over the years. The next two chapters focus on books on world and America history. The guide gets more interesting in later chapters as it suggests historical mysteries, adventure, fantasy, and time travel. An appendix offers short thematic book lists. The guide is easy to thumb through, and the descriptions of the books are interesting and well written. This volume would provide good guidance for teachers and youth-service librarians.—Shannon Seglin, Patrick Henry Library, Vienna, VA
