This update to Gotcha for Guys! (Libraries Unlimited, 2006) highlights books published mainly between 2007 and 2009. Twelve chapters cover themes such as sports, animals, gross/disgusting stuff, mysteries/disasters, and machines. Each one features anywhere from a few to two dozen ready-to-use booktalks, most aimed at grades 3—8, along with extensive bibliographies (not annotated) of other titles that have received good reviews in Booklist, Horn Book Guide, and School Library Journal. New to this volume are enlightening interviews with male authors such as Kadir Nelson, Nic Bishop, and Seymour Simon, whose books are featured in the text. The introduction also lists ideas for promoting books to boys in public libraries and school media centers. The authors have made an effort to include a wide variety of titles, and the booktalks highlight scenes that will draw boys (and many girls, too). Baxter and Kochel have crafted another winner.—Jackie Partch, Multnomah County Library, Portland, OR
