They all, for different reasons, left the countries in which they were born. The reason they left their county is glossed over and at times a mere aside. The subjects of the vignettes are from the past and present and represent an admirable cross section of society. They are as varied and interesting as Rihanna, Anna Wintour, and Madeleine Albright. However, if a listener’s interest is sparked, she or he would need to seek more detailed information elsewhere. The varied voices of the narrators effectively represent the variety of women represented. Readers include Gisela Chípe, Diane Guerrero, Deepti Gupta, Ifrah Mansour, Yvonne Orji, Annie Q, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Mirirai Sithole, Lorraine Toussaint, and Patricia Velásquez. The narrations are well-paced, with a variety of styles and levels of enthusiasm, and intonations keep the listener’s interest.
