PreS-Gr 2—Gloria is a cheerful rhino who loves glitter and delights in spreading it around. Soon, her entire town is covered in glitter, and the townsfolk are less than enthused about it. They gripe and tell Gloria to cease glittering. Unfortunately, the glitter has already spread far and wide, and no one is spared from the sparkles that have blanketed the streets. Gloria becomes anxious; how will everyone react to the mess she has created? Much to her surprise, the townsfolk start laughing and take the unexpected turn of events in stride. What was once a source of annoyance becomes a source of joy, and all of the animals revel in Gloria's carefree spirit. This razzle-dazzle picture book has a bit of glitter on every page. Each picture has patches that children will enjoy running their fingers over, creating a welcome sensory experience. This slight but upbeat tale, accompanied by Abbot's colorful illustrations, is likely to please young readers. The animals in Gloria's town are depicted with comical details.
VERDICT An uplifting title that celebrates positivity and is sure to appeal to children who love animals and illustrations that pop.
