Toddler-PreS–From three shapes to eight, these can be combined to make everything from a fish to a rhino. However, these aren’t your ordinary, run-of-the-mill shapes. They include triangles with rounded sides, a wavy line, a gumdrop, and an arch. Turn the book sideways to see the winsome critters stacked atop one another with the goldfish leaping out of its bowl. The next spread finds all the shapes tumbled in a jumble, but oh, wow, the friends one can create with a little imagination now!
VERDICT Prediction, close observation, and ingenuity are all encouraged, though it will take a sophisticated little one to mentally move the static shapes into animal constructions.
