PreS-Gr 1–As Mama Bear puts her cub Luna down to sleep, they make nighttime wishes to fly through the sky, swim down deep, shrink down with the bugs, and stand like giants over the trees. The soft-focus pencil illustrations are appropriately dark and reminiscent of night, but the darkness makes the images harder to see if you’re reading at bedtime. The lyrical text and the poem that starts and ends the book is sweet, tender, and perfect for bedtime snuggles.
VERDICT While this story doesn’t bring anything new or different to bedside story hour, it will be enjoyed and may be requested often. A solid addition where bedtime titles are in demand.
