Five Summers

Gr 8 Up—Jo, Emma, Maddie, and Skylar spent five summers together—from the ages of 10 to 14—at Camp Nedoba in New Hampshire. Now they are 17 and returning for a reunion weekend. Jo, the tomboy of the group, returns as a counselor; Emma is an academic who hopes to rekindle things with old flame Adam; Maddie still tries to hide her mother's mistakes and the fact that she is poor; and Skylar, the beautiful artist of the group, will never please her father. Reader Abigail Revasch delivers the drama among the girls with ease as she moves between four female friends and the supporting male characters. Despite dramatic events that transpire over the course of the weekend, the girls must find a way to remember what made them best friends in the first place.
