Gr 5 Up—The reputation of the T.Rex as the most ferocious dinosaur known to man is examined in two features. In
Extreme Dinosaurs, a popular science fiction scenario long thought to be impossible—a clash between the largest herbivore and the largest carnivore—is discussed in the light of recent discoveries. It had been thought that the Argentinosaurus, the largest animal to ever walk the Earth, did not live during the same time period as the T.Rex and could never have crossed paths. Paleontologist Dr. Phillip Currie's research has led him to disagee.
T-Rex: Warrior or Wimp?? examines the real nature of the creature. Was the T.Rex really a slow, dim-witted creature or a fearsome monster? Upper elementary, middle, and high school students will enjoy the research and interesting facts presented, but younger viewers may be frightened by some of the images of these beasts fighting and some of the non-simulated recordings of hyenas attacking a wildebeest. This production offers a lot of intriguing information and entertaining re-enactments to entice dinosaur fans, making it a good addition to school and public library collections.—
