Gr 2-6–Woodley’s goal is to provide “easy, fun, doable” craft projects with minimal preparation, mess, and supplies. Most projects can be created with a variety of paper colors and weights, ribbon or string, items from the recycling bin, office supplies, and a needle and thread. Five to eight projects comprise each topical chapter. Numbered photographs accompany step-by-step instructions, and many of the projects will teach new skills that will encourage creativity. Sometimes the written instructions are difficult to interpret or don’t match with the photographs, and templates for a few more projects would make them easier for young crafters. In general younger children will need a lot of help. Although accessible in relation to simple project supplies and minimal mess, the title misses the mark of inclusivity by dedicating many projects to Christian holidays, and photographs depict only white children.
VERDICT There is no doubt that these colorful and adorable projects will catch the eye. Purchase if in need of another paper project book.
