Gr 2-5–This book is about making crafts and costumes with duct tape to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim. The introduction discusses duct tape as a fun craft medium, relatively inexpensive and readily available. The holiday of Purim is also explained simplistically in the beginning, and later in the back matter. The nine crafts in this book are easy to make and include supply lists as well as photographs showing how to assemble the crafts. For instance, readers may create King Ahasuerus’s crown or Queen Vashti’s royal bracelets. Overall, the crafts are rather uninspired and repetitive, and the book has no index.
VERDICT This craft book may appeal to public libraries that need information on Jewish holidays, but there is nothing new or revolutionary within.
