Gr 1–2—These two science books explore dolphins and planets and offer free digital activities. Fun and informative, these titles impart important facts. Planets is written in a style that is easy for young readers to understand. For example, when describing how the dwarf planet Ceres enters the scene, the author takes care to explain define "dwarf." Dolphin Dive features breakout circles that reinforce the meaning of words such as "mammal" and "pollute." Illustrations are well matched to concepts in the text. Both books convey difficult information in a manner children will find accessible. The digital activities for both books are solid, though readers will definitely need help from adults in accessing them.
