PreS-Gr 1—A big sister creates a guide to growing up for the new baby in the family, beginning with a list of her achievements. Her voice is proud, but the illustrations show her accomplishments to be a little less than perfect. The girl continues on to remind the infant of the things he won't be able to do at first and then to inform him of what he will master as he develops. ("You'll spend hours learning how much cups can hold. And how much they can't.") The cartoon illustrations are colorful and playful, and they provide a pleasant view into the protagonist's world. Unfortunately, the lengthy narration takes on a laundry-list-like quality that detracts from the main idea. Additional.—
