Gr 9 Up—Insurance, investments, loans, and interest. Finances can be confusing and overwhelming even for adults, let alone teens, but series such as this one aim to teach young people how to be smart about money. Each title is devoted to a specific topic but all cover the same basic principles of spending and saving. McGuire uses an informal voice to explain Roth IRAs, financial aid, and the stock market, sometimes coming across as trying too hard, especially when slang is awkwardly employed. Making Money Work has the most coherent organization of information and is thus the most usable.
