PreS-Gr 3—In simple, straightforward language, the authors present basic facts on an eclectic mix of famous people. Readers learn the details of each figure's childhoods, their relationships with their respective occupations including their accomplishments, and the circumstances of their deaths (when appropriate). "Fun Facts" are featured in small inserts and are mostly made up of tidbits; for instance, Swift's two-time Grammy win. Titles on Hamilton, Beethoven, Sendak, and Ali will attract report writers, whereas Swift will attract fans. While not extraordinary, the series is well-done and the narratives are age-appropriate.
VERDICT Youngsters will gravitate toward the prominent names—and report writers will find useful material here.
