Each title begins with an overview of the profession and also provides some historical background. Vocabulary, research-project suggestions, and review questions are included in every chapter, giving the books, which should be more suited to independent reading, a drier, academic feel, despite the clear style of writing. Of note is the series' inclusive representation of diversity in the photos, even if it is not always reflective of the content. In Music & Musicians, for example, Madonna is the only woman included in a century- and genre-spanning section on "Famous Musicians." Acting, Writing, and Comedy are particularly noteworthy titles in this otherwise average series.
