Baby-Toddler–With a Walkman, scrunchies, leg warmers, and more, the babies jumping around this book are certainly 1980s tuned-in, but who is this board book for? Parents who 30-40 years later want to show their toddlers how much personality they had, conforming to every trend? Grandparents who need to look hip? Nassner’s digital illustrations are full of life, and Eliot’s rhymes—“Now my phone is off the hook, got a tape for my TV. I’m ready to chill out, ’cause it’s the ’80s, baby!”—cover all the highlights, but it feels more like a very random dive down memory lane than anything that will tempt a toddler.
VERDICT An additional purchase, this will have approximately one reading per curious adult before it gets dusty on the shelves.
